ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I am Tina Ernstrom, the Owner and Photographer at Pristine Photo. Raised as the oldest of seven and daughter of a man that always had a camera within arms reach I've developed a love-hate relationship with the camera. My father was the kind that would often 'kidnap' the family during an outing or after church and drive us to a park or mountainside when fall colors were in bloom. Without warning, and regardless of what we were wearing or whether or not our makeup or hair was done, we would get our picture taken. I love my dad, but needless to say the older we got the more we hated these spontaneous family portraits.

As a result, over the years I have gained an appreciation for good photography. I began a journey to find a balance where I could capture the true candid nature of a person while still incorporating the technique and style of a carefully crafted portrait.

You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.

MY FAMILY

In 2004 I married a wonderful man, whom I have been blessed to have by my side, supporting me through this wild hobby-turned-business-venture. He is also the genius that can turn my vision of website into a reality – a giant thanks to him for making this page possible. I have also been fortunate to become mother to 4 beautiful children. They do an excellent job keeping me on my toes and I love every second of it. Their little faces and miniature accomplishments have only enhanced my love for photography.

WHY PRISTINE PHOTO?

In choosing a company name I needed something that described what I do and what I love. The word 'Pristine' is synonymous with words like perfect, clean, and unblemished. The name seemed to completely agree with my philosophy in portrait photography. As a photographer I strive to capture the perfect you during each session. I believe that a portrait should preserve you at your best. Editing is mild in most cases, but goal is not to change who you are but enhance your natural beauty or manly ruggedness. I firmly believe that everyone should have a portrait of themselves that they love.

AS A PHOTOGRAPHER I STRIVE TO CAPTURE THE PERFECT YOU DURING EACH SESSION.

PROFESSIONAL PRINTS

I have partnered up with a couple of amazing professional print labs. When you order prints, canvases, or other prints from me rest assured that you are getting top quality prints on excellent papers with long lasting inks. All prints purchased through Pristine Photo are of long lasting archival quality. Canvas prints are also of the upmost quality, including excellent print quality, colors, image wraps, and hanging hardware.

If you choose to purchase your digital files and print your own images, I can recommend a few different printing labs to get some of the highest quality consumer level prints.

MY EQUIPMENT

My camera brand of choice is Canon. I shot my very first wedding using my dad’s 1976 Canon AE-1. I later moved on to more modern 35mm SLR, the Canon Elan 7E. From 2001 to 2002 I worked at Inkley’s in Logan, UT and had the opportunity to get to know a variety of different cameras. At the end 2004 I purchased my first digital SLR, the Canon 20D, and officially started my business a few months later. I currently shoot primarily with the Canon 5D mark II. I have several different lenses I use including a 24-105 f/4 (my default go to lens) and a 70-200 f/2.8. I have a good relationship with my Canon cameras and have come to learn to harness their power to my advantage and teach (or trick) them into bending to my will as needed. As I mention in my FAQ section, it takes a lot more than a good camera to make a photographer.
